Dear Diary,
It’s only been a couple days, and I am PUMPED to be the center of attention around here. It’s about time I got my shine on!
Sleeping in a new place is always a little scary though for someone my size, but my foster mom, Sydney, made it feel…what’s the opposite of scary? Unscary!! That’s it, unscary. It’s so fun and cozy here! I’ve been sleeping like a baby hehe.

I’ve also made a new best friend which is insane! I never would’ve thought I’d make friends because of my little fur problem, but Truffles welcomed me with open paws. It’s like she doesn’t even see my fur! Of wait, duh, that’s because I’m missing some hehe…but she knows, just like me, that it’s going to grow back really soon. I can’t wait to be all fluffy and stuff!!
Truffles is trying to teach me about toys, and it’s going…it’s going. I’m a little unsure about what to really do with them, I’d rather chase a real squirrel, you know what I mean? But I guess this’ll have to do so I don’t terrify them with my super scary bark and, like, massive teeth. OMG, I should be the big bad wolf for Halloween!! Truffles can be the little red riding hood!! I just got so excited for fall…maybe I can carve my first pumpkin! Okay, focus.
Anyways…just because I’m a little lazy and love to nap doesn’t mean I don’t get the mad zoomies around here. I’m faster than Lightning McQueen! I’ll come around a corner and CACHOW you didn’t even see me! That’s how fast I am. But all that piston cup power makes me so sleepy, so I’m right back in my favorite place after about 2 minutes…my bed.
Gollyyy, I love my bed. That’s like my favorite thing ever besides Sydney and Truffles. I could literally lay in my bed all day. Wait, I DO lay in my bed all day…man, I am so lucky. It might be hard work being this cute, but I sure do get to recover on the best bed ever.

Well, off to bed again! I could really get used to this bedtime thing…
Tonight, I feel warm, cozy, and loved. Maybe this is what “home” feels like?
Sweet Dreams,
Snoopy
A Friendly Guide to Demodex Mange in Dogs
What Exactly Is Demodex Mange?
Think of Demodex mites as those uninvited houseguests who overstay their welcome. Normally, dogs have a few of these microscopic mites hanging out on their skin and in their hair follicles—no biggie. But when their numbers get a little out of control, that’s when “demodex mange” shows up.
Signs Your Pup Might Have It
-
Bald patches (like little polka dots on the coat)
-
Itchy or scaly skin
-
Sometimes a bit of redness or irritation
Don’t worry—your pup isn’t turning into a hairless wonder. With care, their fur can bounce back beautifully.
Why It Happens
Usually, it’s not about being dirty or neglected (so, take a deep breath!). Demodex mange often pops up when a pup’s immune system is feeling a little overwhelmed—like puppies still building their defenses, or adult dogs who’ve been stressed out.
The Good News
Demodex mange is:
-
Not contagious to other dogs (or you!)
-
Very treatable with the right plan from your vet
-
Often clears up with patience, meds, and lots of belly rubs
How It’s Treated
Your vet might suggest:
-
Special medicated dips or shampoos (think of it as a spa day)
-
Oral or topical medications
-
Extra love and good nutrition to keep that immune system strong
With consistent treatment, most pups are back to their fluffy, happy selves in no time.
Encouragement for Pet Parents!
If your dog gets diagnosed with demodex mange, don’t panic! You’re not a bad pet parent, and your pup is not broken. This is just a little bump in their health journey, and with your love (and maybe some stylish bald patches for a while), they’ll be back to chasing balls, squirrels, and snacks soon enough!!
