Fate was just in time...

Nina's story may go far beyond when I met her, but ours starts in April 2020 at the height of COVID. I was home with not much to do around that time, as was the same for many other people, so my friend Camryn and I decided to make a point to incorporate two or three 10-miles walks into each week until we were able to leave our neighborhood bubble once the (longer than anticipated) madness subsided. 

The very beginning...

Back in October 2011, my dad and I visited the John Blue Festival, only to find a lovely surprise... puppies sitting near the front gate! Of course, we stopped. The Humane Society was hosting an adoption event at one of the busiest events of the year which we thought was an amazing idea for exposure and to find some cute little animals their forever homes - which is exactly what I did hehe.

Here in Scotland County — and across the country — our Humane Society works every day to protect animals from cruelty, neglect, and abuse. Among the most heartbreaking forms of cruelty are dogfighting and rooster (cock) fighting.

These violent, illegal activities cause unthinkable suffering for animals and serious consequences for those involved.
